Janice Marie (Beseler) Santanen was called home to be with our Lord on Sunday, October 30, 2016 at CHI St. Alexius Medical Center, Bismarck, ND. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 3, 2016 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hazelton, ND, with Rev. Eugene Roecker officiating. Burial will be at Hazelton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Myers Funeral Home, Linton, where there will be a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue for one hour before services at the church on Thursday.Janice was born February 6, 1941, on a farm east of Hazelton, the daughter of Walter and Emma (Burkhardt) Beseler. She attended rural school and Hazelton High School. Janice married Darmo Santanen on July 11, 1958 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hazelton. They moved to Kalispell, Montana for a short time and moved back to Hazelton to make their home. Darmo and Janice had three sons.Janice was active in St. Paul's Lutheran Church and was the children's choir director and Sunday School teacher for 35 years. Janice worked for the Bank of Hazelton and later worked at Linton Hospital as a CNA. She also worked at Rosenbluth Travel Services in Linton and Herberger's in Bismarck. She was actively involved with the Hazelton Newsletter, Hazelton Historical Society and Hazelton Senior Citizens. Janice grew up in a home where music was a priority in the Beseler family, singing with her sisters and brother. Her first solo debut was when she was 9 years old and won the talent contest at the Linton Auditorium. She enjoyed singing harmony with her sisters who are well known as the Beseler Sisters. They sang a variety of music and performed at hundreds of occasions up to three months before her passing. Janice is survived by two sons, Durrant (Satina), Hazelton, and Clifford (Cheryl), Clinton, MO; daughter-in-law, Bobbi Jo Santanen of Vancouver, WA; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren; two sisters Harriet (Ruben) Humann and Alice (Norman) Delzer; and brothers-in-law; sister-in-law, Maxine Beseler; 12 nieces, nephews, cousins and their families and many dear friends. Janice was preceded in death by her husband, Darmo, son Mahlon, her parents, one sister, Carol (Frank) Burgett, and one brother, Walter.
