Obituary

Janice Umber, 79, of Linton, ND, died December 27, 2022 in the Linton Hospital.  Funeral services will be held at 10:30am, Saturday, December 31, 2022 at the First Baptist Church, Linton with Pastor Richard Cook officiating.  Burial will be in the Linton cemetery in the spring of 2023.  Visitation will be held from, 5pm to 7pm on Friday, December 30 at the church in Linton.  There will be a prayer service at 7pm.

Janice was born on October 16, 1943 in Linton, ND, the daughter of William and Martha (Kiemele) Weber.  She was raised and educated in Linton.  She worked on the family farm as a young girl.  Janice worked at Russdon's, Duke's Pizza and ran a home daycare for many years.

Janice married Harold Umber at First Baptist Church in Linton on June 5, 1966.  They started Umber's Bed and Breakfast in 1993 and also owned and operated Dunk's Drive Inn for 10 years. Harold died June 19, 2002.  Janice continued to operate Dunk's Drive Inn.  Janice enjoyed playing cards, listening to Gospel music, and  cooking.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially her great granddaughters: Lily and Jordyn, her eyes lit up whenever they came around.  She will be remembered for her cooking.

Janice was a member of First Baptist Church and a member of WMF.

Janice is survived by her daughters:  Melissa (Bob) Kramer of Linton, Cindi (Tim) Lucas of Mandan, Nicki (Ray) Serr of Linton; six grandchildren:  Zachary (Whitney) Serr, Lakin (Kevin) Backman, McKenzie (Tyler) Humann, Jessica (Clay) Jacob, her favorite, Michael Kramer and Allison Lucas; 2 great granddaughters: Lily Serr and Jordyn Humann; three sisters-in-law:  Susie Weber, of Linton, Etta Gates of CO, Carol (Justin) Wade of VA; one sister, Shirley (Alex) Jahner of Linton and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold in 2002; son-in-law, Gene Hughes in 2015; brothers:  Wilbur (Anna Laura), Freddie, and Neil; sisters:  Alma (Ralph) Kremer, Luella (Edwin) Ohlhauser, Viola (Arnold) Ohlhauser and Velma (Harlan) Ohlhauser and a brother-in-law, Carl Gates.
