Jerome A. Senger, 91, of Strasburg, passed away May 5, 2025. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 10:30 am at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Strasburg. Visitation will be held Friday, May 9, 2025 form 5:00 – 7:00 pm with a Rosary/Vigil at 7:00 pm at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. Burial will take place at Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery.

Jerome was born June 6, 1933, the fifth of eight children to parents Anton J. and Katherine (Jung) Senger.  He grew up on a farm northeast of Hague and attended Hague Public School until the 8th grade.  On February 16, 1953, Jerome married Loretta Feist.  Together, they farmed the original Senger homestead and raised 14 children (seven sons and seven daughters).  In addition to being a good farmer, Jerome had a passion for sales that included selling John Deere tractors, Behlen buildings, farm implements (i.e. augers, grain trailers, and rock pickers) and tires.  Jerome's ability to sell earned him numerous recognitions and awards from companies like Behlen Manufacturing for being one of the companies top salesmen in 1980 and Brandt Industries as Salesman of the Year in 1993 and 1994.  Jerome also served as President of Odessa School, President of Hague Elevator, and Vice President of Emmons Central High School until it closed. He was an active member of the Catholic fraternity the Knights of Columbus, the Lions Club and the Moose Club.

On June 30, 1988 Jerome married Annie Nolz (Ricki) where they continued to farm until 2000 before semi-retiring to Strasburg, North Dakota.  Possessing a strong sense of community spirit and civic pride, at the age of 68 Jerome Senger came out of retirement to design and rebuild the Strasburg Blue Room that burnt down in 2001. The Strasburg Blue Room was a local institution that played a significant part of Strasburg's heritage and culture for several generations.  It's where Lawrence Welk played his accordion as a young man before becoming famous and was the favorite place for wedding receptions and large gatherings and, still is to this day.  Jerome enjoyed the time he owned the Blue Room where he would greet friends and patrons every day until he sold the business in 2007.

When not playing whist or pinochle, he was tuned into various local and national news channels, keeping informed on current events and politics.  He never tired of watching old reruns of Bonanza or M*A*S*H.  He also had a sense of humor - when his grandchildren played tricks on him; he would comment with his heavy German accent, "You know…I may have been born at night, but it wasn't last night".

Jerome is survived by 11 children: Judy (Allan) Lacher of Bismarck, ND; Daniel (Rose) Senger of Bismarck, ND; Donna (Paul) Krumm of Sandy, UT; Patricia (Grant) Levi of Bismarck, ND; Mary(Monte Hoge) Kramer of Bismarck, ND; James Senger of Mandan, ND; David Senger of Crete, ND Dennis(Shelly) Senger of Colorado Springs, CO; Francis (Kristy Haman) Senger of Bismarck, ND; Lisa (Scott) Meyers of Cokato , MN; Ryan (Tena) Senger of Highlands Ranch, CO; son-in-law: Galen Wolf of Boise, ID; 31 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three siblings: Irene Wagner of Bismarck, ND; Paul (Helen) Senger of Bismarck, ND; and Alice Schafer of Bismarck, ND and a special friend Angie Feist, Strasburg, ND.

He was preceded in death by both his first wife Loretta and his second wife Ricki, three children Terrance, Karen, Linda, and son-in-law Jim Kramer, his parents and siblings, Joe Senger, Aloys Senger, Leona Werlinger and Barbara Glatt.
