Johanna Horner, 93, of Linton, ND, died December 20, 2024, at Sanford Health, Bismarck. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, December 27, 2024, at 10:30 AM at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Linton. Visitation will be held Thursday, December 26, 2024, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM with a Rosary/Vigil service at 7:00 PM at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Burial will take place at St. Anthony Cemetery.

Johanna Nagel was born on the family farm on May 17, 1931, the daughter of Max and Mary (Massett) Nagel. She attended a one room country school up to the eighth grade. Following her schooling she stayed at home and helped on the farm until her marriage. She married Alvin Horner in April of 1953 at St. Bernard Catholic Church. They stayed with Alvin's folks until October 1953. They then moved to a farm 13 miles east of Linton. Alvin suffered a stroke in 1971, which left him disabled and in 1975 they moved into Linton.

Johanna enjoyed and kept busy sewing blankets for all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also loved crocheting many dollies, baking buns, kuchen and cookies. Plus, she worked three little jobs and worked at the hospital for 30 years as a CNA.

Johanna loved to travel, which took her to London, Italy, Spain, Portugal, France, Canda, New York and a Royal Caribbean Cruise. She loved to play cards with friends and family and go to the casino occasionally.

She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, where she was a communion minister for many years, member of the Christian Mothers Society, life member of the Perpetual of the Most Holy Rosary and a member of the VFW Auxiliary.

Her greatest joy in life was cooking meals for all her children and grandchildren when they came home on the holidays.

Johanna is survived by her children, Diane (Steven) Roth, Donna Wald, David (Jennifer) Horner, Duane (Jona) Horner, Debie Horner, Darel (Cheryl) Horner, Darin (Geraldine) Horner, Darcy (Pete) Meidinger and Denise (Byron) Ketterling; 20 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; brothers Roy (Adeline) Nagel and Johnny (Luella) Nagel; sisters-in-law, Bernie Nagel, Joy Nagel, Lucy Horner & Delphine Horner; brothers-in-law, Tom White, Dennis (Sally) Horner and John Horner

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin; parents, Max and Mary Nagel and Alvin's parents, George and Johanna Horner; grandsons, Josh Bernhardt, Levi Bernhardt, Cade Alvin Horner, Ty Maxwell Horner and Wade Horner; brothers, Pius Nagel, Herman Nagel, Edwin Nagel and his wife Deloris; sisters, Cecelia Deis and her husband Aloys and Floradina White; brothers-in-law, Bill Horner and Jim Horner; sisters-in-law, Luella Grossman and her husband Ervin, Verna Bosch and her husband Francis, Virginia Horner and Ann Nagel; and friend, Clarence Brandner
