Milo was born on June 14, 1936, to Peter and Gertie (Compaan) Dyk on the family farm in rural Emmons County. He attended rural elementary school and graduated from Strasburg High School.

On March 4, 1960, Milo married Joann Slagh, the daughter of Gerrit and Thelma Slagh, at Hope Reformed Church in Westfield, ND. Milo and Joann raised five children on the farm and the family milked dairy cows, farmed, and raised sheep, hogs, and beef cattle. They were married for 61 years.

He was a member of Hope Reformed Church in Westfield, ND where he had served as elder and deacon. Milo loved to teach and was a Sunday School teacher, Sunday School superintendent, and catechism teacher.  He was a member of the Gideons and was a 4-H Leader. He was 1 st tenor in the Westfield Quartet for many years.

Most precious in his heart was his Lord and his family. Some of his other favorite things were singing, teaching, reading, doing crossword puzzles, hunting pheasant and deer, family get togethers, fixing just about anything, repairing and restoring old tractors, anything to do with farming, and visiting with family and friends. Milo would strike up conversations with strangers and on occasion witness to them if there was opportunity.

He is survived by his wife, Joann, of Strasburg, ND; children Duane (Betty) of Strasburg, ND, Harvey of Eagan, MN, Bruce (Nancy) of Bismarck, ND, Doug of Clear Lake, SD, and Lisa (Bleau) LaFave of Tea, SD; 11 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; sister Janice (Tom) Tschritter of Linton, ND; and sisters-in-law Betty (Bud) Kuhn of Lincoln, ND, Vicki (Bill) Backhaus of Menoken, ND, Alice Slagh of Ormand Beach, FL, and many nieces and nephews.
