John M. Haak, 81, Linton, ND, went to be with Jesus on Sunday, September 11, 2016 at St. Vincent's Care Center, Bismarck, ND.Celebration of life services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 16, 2016 at Christian Reformed Church, Hull, ND with Pastor Jack Vanden Heuvel and Pastor Paul Brannan officiating. Burial will be in the Hull Cemetery.Visitation will be on Thursday, September 15, 2016 from 1 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Myers Funeral Home where there will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue for one hour before services at the church on Friday.John M. Haak was born March 4, 1935, the son of John and Marie (Noomen) Haak in Hull, ND. He grew up and attended school near Hull and farmed with his dad. He spent many years trucking, some of that time he drove mail truck, but for most of the years he did over the road trucking, hauling grain and lumber.John married Harriet Hollaar at Hull Christian Reformed Church on August 25, 1954. This year they celebrated 62 years of marriage.John retired in 2004 at which time they moved to Linton where they resided until John moved to St. Vincent's Care Center. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Linton. John and Harriet enjoyed traveling and traveled extensively to Hawaii, Alaska, Florida, New Mexico, and Texas where they visited friends and their children and grandchildren.John is survived by his wife Harriet, Linton, three children, Deon, of Aberdeen, SD, Yvonne (Norman) Lopes, of Eagle River, AK, Vicki (Allan) LaVake of Hobbs, NM; eleven grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren; one sister, Gertrude (Van Beek) Nieuwsma, Sioux Center, IA; and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. John was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Gerrit and Albertus P., and three sisters, Rena Nieuwsma, Wilma DeMick and Frances DeMick.
