John J. Nieuwsma, 77, of Hull, ND, died March 29, 2012 at a Bismarck hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:30am Monday, April 2, 2012 at the Hull Christian Reformed Church, with the Reverend Jimmy Hall officiating. Burial will be in the Hull Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday, April 1, 2012 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at the church with a prayer service at 7:00pm. John was born February 27, 1935 on a farm south of Hull, ND, the son of Jan (John) and Delia (Van Voorst) Nieuwsma. He attended rural school near Hull and graduated from the Hague High School in 1953. John farmed south of Hull and was an insurance adjuster for 29 years. John married Delores Biesheuvel in Westfield in 1955. They had seven children. They continued to live on the farm and raise their family. John married Irene Martz in 1984 in Roscoe, SD. John served on the ND Wheat Board, the Web Water Board and the Hull Christian Reformed Church Board. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, tractors, auction sales, mowing the lawn and water fights with his family. He is survived by his wife, Irene, Hull, ND; three sons and daughters-in-law: John T. and Shirley, Strasburg, ND, Paul and Diane, Bismarck, ND and Perry and Sharon, Beulah, ND; four daughters and sons-in-law: Rebecca and Scott Evans, Mandan, ND, Jilene and Robert Suedmeier, Aberdeen, SD, Tamara Lange, Chaska, MN and Angela and Curtis Silvernagel, Corinth, TX; two step daughters: Janice and Merle Mohr, Mina, SD and Victoria and Mark Novy, Watertown, SD; eighteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; one brother and sisters-in-law: Gerrit and Frances, Hull, ND, Ella, Ripon, CA and Gertrude, Bismarck, ND; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers: Franklin, Peter J., Menne, Edwin and one in infancy; and two sisters: Bendina Meyer and Anna TeBeest.
