Judith (Judi) Volzke, aged 80, of Herreid, SD, passed away on February 6, 2025, at Linton Hospital in Linton, ND.

A celebration of Judi's life will be held at a later time.

Judith Ione Pudwill (Schweigert) was born on July 11, 1944, to Lenora Pudwill. She graduated from Herreid High School in 1962. On October 5, 1962, she married Richard Volzke. Together, they had two sons: Dane Jason, born in 1967, and Jay Derrick, born in 1977.

In 1999, their son Dane tragically lost his life in a traffic accident in Aberdeen, leaving behind his wife Rhonda and their three children: Aaron, Carrie, and Austin. Presently, their son Jay, along with his wife Nicole and grandson Lathan, continue to operate the family farm.

During her farm years, Judi devoted herself to assisting Richard and tending to the cows. Her creative abilities knew no bounds; she could paint, sew, and bake with exceptional skill. Judi found immense joy in sharing her delightful sweet treats with friends, family, and neighbors. In 2009, Judi and Richard retired and relocated to Herreid, where she took pleasure in spending time with her coffee friends, hosting luncheons for the ladies, and organizing card parties and game nights.

Judi is survived by her son Jay, his wife Nicole, and their son Lathan. She is also survived by the children of her late son Dane: grandson Aaron and his wife Jenna, along with their children, Jason, Andrew, and Amelia; her granddaughter Carrie Peterson and her husband Myles, with their daughters Calia, Kendra, and Natalie; and her grandson Austin. Additionally, Judi is survived by her sisters, Bonnie (Charles) Koerner, Kathy Davis, Deb Schweigert, and Barb (Jeff) Peterson, as well as her brother Dan Schweigert. Judi shared a deep and cherished bond with her friends, siblings, and relatives.

Judi was preceded in death by her beloved son, Dane; her husband, Richard; and her parents, Lenora and Edwin Schweigert.
