Obituary

Kathryn Bichler, 97, of Bismarck, ND, died peacefully on May 7, 2024.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Linton, ND with Fr. Josh Ehli and Fr. Mark Aune officiating. Burial will be held in the Linton St. Anthony Cemetery immediately following the funeral Mass.  Visitation will be held from 5 pm to 7 pm on Friday, May 10, 2024, at the St Anthony Church in Linton.  A rosary and vigil service will follow visitation beginning at 7 pm.

Kathryn was born on November 25, 1926, in Linton, ND, the daughter of Wendelyn & Mary (Dietz) Mosset.  She attended school in Linton and graduated valedictorian from Linton High School in 1945.

Kathryn married Alex Bichler in Linton on November 6, 1946.  Following their marriage, they purchased a farm where they lived for 66 years and raised their six children and five foster teenagers.  They moved to Linton in 2012 and then moved to Bismarck in 2014.

She was an active volunteer in her church, community, hospital, and schools.  She was a member of the Christian Mothers, The Catholic Order of Foresters and served the Diocese of Bismarck in preparation of the Second Vatican Council and was a member of the ND Governor's Committee on Aging.  She was a schoolteacher, taught religious education and served as a 4-H leader.

Kathryn enjoyed listening to music, dancing, playing cards, shooting pool, bowling, and gardening. She was an excellent chef and baker.  Sports Channels, Fox News and EWTN were her most favorite TV channels.

She loved being a farmwife and mother. The cornerstones of her life were faith, hope, charity, and justice.  She participated in daily mass and enjoyed her quiet times in daily prayers and devotions. She freely gave of her time and talents in service to God and others. "Well done, good and faithful servant." Matt 25:23

Kathryn is survived by her daughters: Diane (Jim) Samek of Fargo, ND, Kathy (Joe) Ibach of Bismarck, ND, Janice (Keith) Ohlhauser of Linton, ND, Sharon (Larry) Jangula of Linton, ND and Bona (Larry) Lauinger of Linton, ND; 14 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; one great, great grandchild; sister, Lenore (Joe) Glasser, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 76 years, Alex; a son and daughter-in-law: Bob (Kathy) Bichler; granddaughter, Terra Mattheis; great grandson, Hunter Mattheis; sisters: Delia Kallock and Leona Peterson; brothers: Herman Mosset and Wilfred Mosset.
