Kenneth Kenny Fischer, 70, Linton, ND, died Sunday, January 3, 2010 in Bismarck, ND, surrounded by his family. Mass of Christian Burial has been rescheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 8, 2010 at St. Anthonys Catholic Church, Linton, ND with Rev. Gary Benz officiating. Burial will be in St. Anthonys Catholic Church Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by Linton American Legion. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Myers Funeral Home, Linton, ND, where there will be a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour before services at the church on Friday. Kenneth Fischer was born January 31, 1939 in Hague, ND, the son of Adam and Clara (Scherr) Fischer. He attended school and graduated from Hague High School. Kenny served in the US Army from 19631965. On July 6, 1967, he married Leona Weigel and they made their home in Milwaukee, WI where they co-owned and operated a tavern called Fischers Tab. He also worked as a welder for the Ladish Company. In 1977 they moved to Linton, ND, where they owned and operated the Starlite Bar and Grill for 22 years. Leona died July 15, 2000. Kenny continued to live in Linton and worked at the Farmers Elevator. He moved to Bismarck in 2006 where he lived at the Waterford. Kenny died January 3, 2010 at the Waterford. He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus and the Linton American Legion. Kenny enjoyed yodeling, dancing, playing cards, and organizing and tinkering in his garage. He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law: Thomas and Stacie Fischer, John and Heather Fischer and Paul and Suzie Fischer, all of Bismarck, ND; one daughter and son-in-law: Kathleen Kathy and Mike Schumacher of Linton, ND; ten grandchildren: Shane and Jesse Fischer, Tate and Tayla Fischer, Alexi, Adyson, Bryson Fischer, Matthew Fischer, and Jade and Anthony Schumacher; five brothers and one sister-in-law: Eugene Gene Fischer, Willie Fischer and special friend, Lupe, Donnie Fischer and Special Friend, Ann, all of Milwaukee, WI; Bob Fischer, and Gary and Janet Fischer all of Lead, SD; four sisters and two brothers-in-law: Sally and Herb Haltiner of Lead, SD, Darlene Fischer and Special Friend Jim of Deadwood, SD, Diane Beck and Special Friend Dennis, and Marilyn and Dean Schell all of Linton, ND as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife in 2000.
