Heimbuck was born August 14, 1922 in Hague, ND, one of six daughters, of Eugene and Katherine (Sahli) Wolf. Lennie was educated in Hague and graduated from High School in 1941. After graduation she was employed at the Hague Post Office for several years. Lennie married Harold Heimbuck on November 4, 1946 in Hastings, Nebraska. Over the years they made several moves, living in Deadwood, South Dakota for an extended time as well as Minneapolis, MN where she was a cashier at St. Mary's Hospital. Retirement brought them back to Hague where Lennie was active in St. Mary's Church and a loyal member of the church choir. Retirement was not an idle time for Lennie. She cooked for the school lunch program for several years. She then managed the Hague Grocery Store, but her signature contribution was introducing "Strudel Thursday" at the Hague Caf. After Harold's death, she learned to drive and got her first driver's license at age 70. Lennie moved to Linton for a time and then to Bismarck. Her last residence was at the Terrace Assisted Living until February 16, when she entered the Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center. She passed away March 22, with all the courage everyone has come to expect from her. Lennie was strong, kind and gentle. She had many friends where ever she lived, and was loved by everyone who knew her. Lennie is survived by her daughter, Kathy Heimbuck, Bismarck, one sister, Viola (Floyd) Bitz, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harold, four sisters, Hildeguarde, Mary, Barbara, Palma and one infant brother.
