Leo F. Schumacher, 85, Linton, ND died Tuesday, June 9 th , 2020 at CHI St. Alexius Hospital, Bismarck, ND. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am Friday, June 12 th , 2020 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Linton, ND with Father David Zimmer officiating.
Leo was born July 31 st , 1934 in Hague, ND the only son of Frank and Elizabeth (Fischer) Schumacher. He attended country school through the 8 th grade.
Leo married Christine Bosch on September 28, 1955 at Sacred Heart Church in rural Linton. Following their marriage, they lived with Leo's parents briefly while he farmed with his parents. In 1966, they moved to Linton where he worked numerous jobs including Super Value, City of Linton, Leonard's Body Shop, Linton Hospital ambulance driver. He opened his own lawn mowing and small motor repair shop. In 1978, they moved north of Linton where he opened up a larger shop.
Leo was a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed gardening, attending craft fairs with his wife, being outside to mow lawns or blow snow and listening to polka music. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Leo is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis Schumacher and Loreta Iuliana, Calgary, Alberta, Canada; Daniel and Tammie Schumacher, Mandan, ND; Mike and Kathy Schumacher, Linton; one daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Richard Grossman, Dilworth, MN; eight grandchildren, Amanda (Dale) Drilling, Kylee Schumacher, Amanda (Ross) Paquin, Brian Grossman, Jade Schumacher (fiancé Izzy Hagl), Anthony Schumacher, Emily Schumacher and Grace Iuliani; and two great-grandchildren, McKenna Piispanen and Keena Paquin with another great-granddaughter to arrive soon; two sisters Martha Deringer, Bismarck and Viola Bosch, Mandan; a brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law, Willie and Peggy Bosch, Spearfish, SD and Rebecca Bosch, Linton, ND.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Christine, both his parents, a grandson, Francis and two brother-in-laws, Peter Bosch and Mike (Alex) Bosch.
