Loretta Compaan, 86, Westfield, ND, died Monday, October 17, 2016 at the Linton Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 22, 2016 at Hope Reformed Church, Westfield, ND, with Pastor Floyd Haan officiating. Burial will be in Westfield Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 9 p.m. Friday at Myers Funeral Home where there will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour before services at the church on SaturdayLoretta Lillian Compaan was born May 15, 1930 to Molly Berndt in Fargo, ND. Loretta came with her mother to a farm south of the Hull Cemetery where Molly was hired as a nanny. She attended school in rural Hull.Loretta married LaVern Compaan on November 3, 1950 in the Westfield Hope Reformed Church Parsonage. They farmed with his parents for a year until his parents moved to Strasburg. She was a member of the Westfield Hope Reformed Church and the RCWM.Loretta enjoyed cooking, baking, quilting and embroidery. Loretta and LaVern were janitors at the Bakker School for 25 years. She loved her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren dearly.Loretta is survived by her children, two daughters and son-in-law, Brenda Bichler and life partner Ron Lorenz of Great Falls, MT and Evonne and Harvey Mattern of Strasburg, ND; one son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Brenda Compaan of Strasburg, ND; four grandchildren, Trevor (Bridget) Mattern, Troy Mattern and Trent Mattern, all of Strasburg, ND, and Traci (Ethan) Bodey of Napoleon, ND, four great-grandchildren, Rylee, Koltan, Casyn and Brooklyn; brothers, sisters and in-laws, Bernice Van Heukelom of Strasburg, ND, Kathryn Lovo of Pollock, SD, Willis Van Heukelom of Herreid, SD, Jerome and Beryl Van Heukelom of River Falls, WI, Elizabeth Dykema and Brian Jennings of Dickinson, ND, Leroy Van Heukelom of New Richmond, WI, Roger and Glori Van Heukelom of Bismarck, ND, and brother/sisters-in-law, Ardyth Van Heukelom of Wyoming, MI, Bertha Van Heukelom of Hudsonville, MI and Dennis Miller of Hague, ND.Loretta was preceded in death by her husband, LaVern this past February, her mother, Molly and Step-father Dick Van Heukelom, infant daughter Belinda, brothers, Jerald Van Heukelom and Glen Van Heukelom, sister, Pearl Miller and in-laws, Judy Van Heukelom, Odvel Lovo, Dianne Van Heukelom, Louis Dykema and Jeanette Van Heukelom.
