Lorraine Mosset, age 99, of Wishek, North Dakota, passed away on June 18, 2026.

Lorraine was born on December 30, 1926, to Mike and Mary (Wickenheiser) Bichler. She grew up learning the values that would guide her throughout her life—faith, hard work, generosity, and devotion to family.

On November 11, 1947, Lorraine was united in marriage to Herman Mosset. Together they raised seven children: Elaine, Tom, Mary, Jan, Gary, Jerome, and Joan. In 1950, they rented a farm southwest of Linton, where they dairy farmed for 30 years while building a loving home and raising their family. In 1980, they purchased the Sebald Nagel farm southwest of Linton and later sold it to their youngest son, Jerome, and his wife Rita in 1982.

Lorraine and Herman moved into Linton in 1989 and enjoyed their retirement years playing cards, throwing dice, and being actively involved with the KC Club. Following Lorraine’s stroke, they moved to assisted living in Wishek and eventually to the nursing home, where Lorraine remained until her passing. Herman preceded her in death on October 1, 2021. Lorraine missed him dearly and often wondered why she had been left behind. Those who knew her found comfort in knowing she longed to be reunited with the love of her life.

Lorraine found her greatest joy in caring for her family. Whether she was sewing, baking, or preparing for another family gathering, she loved having her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren around her table. The holidays were especially important to her, and she cherished every opportunity to have the whole family together. Her home was a place where visitors were always welcome, laughter came easily, and no one left hungry.

She was especially known for her caramel rolls, homemade jellies, fresh bread, buns, and kuchen. Fridays were “dough day” in the Mosset household. Family members fondly remember coming home from school to the smell of fresh baking and finding baking pans piled high in the sink waiting to be washed. While the treats were always appreciated, the cleanup was not. Looking back, those Friday afternoons became treasured memories and reminders of the love she poured into caring for her family.

Lorraine also had a playful sense of humor. If a child happened to leave behind a toy, piece of clothing, or other forgotten item during a visit, she would carefully wrap it and place it under the Christmas tree. Although the recipient was often disappointed to discover what was inside, Lorraine took great delight in their reactions and the laughter that followed. It was one of the many ways she brought joy to her family.

Those who knew Lorraine will remember her strong work ethic, cheerful laugh, generous spirit, and willingness to help whenever needed. She believed deeply in faith, family, and hard work and demonstrated those values every day of her life. More than anything, she treasured the time spent with those she loved.

Lorraine is survived by her children: Elaine Jochim, Tom Mosset, Mary (Dennis) Bartsch, Jan (Mike) Zerr, Gary Mosset, Jerome (Rita Jacob) Mosset, and Joan (Steve) Hodgson; 23 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren, with two more on the way; sisters Angeline Miller, Bernice (Edwin) Jahner, Sally Bernhardt, and Beverly Noel; brother Joe Bichler; and sister-in-law Alice Bichler.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herman; son-in-law Florian Jochim; grandson Greg Jochim; granddaughters Tammy Baumgartner and Baby Girl Bartsch; great-granddaughter Trinity Mosset; great grandson, Jace Flick; sisters Phyllis Kuhn, Margaret Ternes, Theresa Hager, Agnes Mosset, Anna Marie Mosset, and Victoria Jahner; and brothers Leo and Alex Bichler.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Linton, with family greeting guests one hour before the service.  Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., with a vigil and rosary service beginning at 7:00 p.m.  There will be a livestream of the vigil and the funeral Mass on the funeral home website, www,sannesfeistfh.com.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to all family and friends for their visits, prayers, and support during Lorraine’s time at the care center. Your kindness and compassion meant so much to Lorraine and her family.

Lorraine will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her. Her legacy lives on in the faith she shared, the family she cherished, the traditions she created, and the countless memories gathered around her table.
