Obituary

Louis Greff, 77, of Linton, ND, died April 6, 2010 at the Linton Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am Saturday, April 10, 2010 at St. Anthonys Catholic Church, Linton with the Rev. Gary Benz officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 9:00am to 9:00pm at the Myers Funeral Home, Linton with a prayer service at 7:00pm. Louis was born May 25, 1932 in Regent, ND, the son of Gabriel and Mary (Binstock) Greff Sr. He attended Cherry Butte Grade School and graduated from the Assumption Abbey High School in 1950. Louis worked on the family farm and also for area farmers. He also worked road construction for Bob Waggner and worked in Tony Lampls Body Shop. Louis worked for the Regent Farmers Union Oil Company prior to his marriage. Louis married June Kempf on February 25, 1961 in Regent , ND. After their marriage, he attended a managers training program for Farmers Union. Louis and June moved to Linton in February of 1964. Louis managed the Linton Farmers Union Oil Company and later the Linton Cenex. He retired in 1985. During his retirement, he worked for Behms Propane in Bismarck for a few years. Louis was a member of Regent and Linton Volunteer Fire Departments, served as secretary of Linton Fire Department and District for many years. He was also a member of Linton Jaycees, Eagles Club and Moose Lodge and a life member of Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed playing horse shoes, bowling, fishing, hunting pheasants, playing cards, and spending time with friends and family. He is survived by his wife, June of Linton, ND; two sons and two daughters-in-law: Francis and Beth Greff of Bismarck, ND and Patrick and Tammy Greff of Fargo, ND; six daughters and six sons-in-law: Louise and Sia Anvarinia of Grand Forks, ND, Susan and Jim Renschler of Kansas City, MO, Carmen and Don Augustin of Crystal, ND, Michelle and Cory Morlock of Weslaco, TX, Rachel and Tom Behm of Grand Forks, ND and Charlotte and Curt Opp of Minot, ND; twenty grandchildren; two brothers and a sister-in-law: Mike Greff of Denver, CO and David and Jackie Greff of Macungie, PA; two sisters and two brothers-in-law: Josie and Victor Friedt of Grants, NM and Lena and John White of Grantsville, UT. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Stephen Greff; eight brothers: Gabriel, Godfrey, Anton, Paul, Clement, Frank and Joseph and two sisters: Mary Reese and Elizabeth Greff.
