Luella passed away peacefully at the Strasburg Nursing home due to complications of cancer at the age of 85 on Monday, January 13, 2014. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 17, 2014 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Linton, ND, with Rev. David Richter officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday at Myers Funeral Home and continue from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church where there will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. Luella Margaret Richter was born to Peter and Rosalie Bickler on February 12th, 1928 in Strasburg, ND. She graduated from St. Bens Catholic School in Strasburg, ND. Luella was one of 5 beautiful sisters that grew up in a very close family in the town of Strasburg. After graduating from High School, Luella taught at a rural farm school near Strasburg, ND. In 1948, she moved to Bismarck, ND where she lived with her sisters and worked at St. Alexius hospital. Luella moved to Milwaukee, WI in 1950 where shortly after she met her future husband, Leo Richter.Luella married Leo Richter on February 11th, 1952 in Milwaukee, WI. After their marriage, they moved to Linton, ND and made their home on a farm 2 miles West of Linton where they raised 6 children. In 1977, they retired and moved to a home in Linton where Luella lived until November 2013. Luella enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren; playing cards and giving them special attention.Luella is survived by 5 sons and 1 daughter; Tom (Sandy) Richter, Dave (Sue) Richter, Paul Richter, Jim (Jeanie) Richter, Jon (Jaime) Richter, and Mary Spencer. Proud Grandmother of Wayne (Robin) Richter, Chuck Richter, Jason Richter, Michael Richter, Britany Richter, Leslie (Colton) Kassmier, Kelly Richter, Amanda Spencer, Matthew Spencer, JayCee Richter, Riley Richter, Gentry Richter, and Brody Richter and Great-Grandmother of Tyler Richter, Taylor Richter, and Megan Richter. Further survived by her sister, Gladys (Dick) Tesmer and brother-in-law Michael Diesz. Preceded in death by her husband Leo, her parents; Peter and Rosalie, sisters Angie Diesz, Florence Glass, Estella Wolf, and brother-in-law Ted Wolf.
