Lyla Beitelspacher, 96, of Linton, ND, died November 15, 2023 at the Strasburg Care Center following a brief illness.  Funeral services will be held at 10:30am, Monday, November 20, 2023 at Peace Lutheran Church, Linton with Pastor Sean Barnhart officiating.  Burial will be in the Linton Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 19, 2023 from 2pm to 4pm at Sannes Feist Family Funeral Home, Linton.  Visitation will continue for 1 hour before the services at the church on Monday.  A livestream of Lyla's funeral service will be available on the funeral home website.

Lyla was born on March 17, 1927 on her grandparents' farm.  She was the eldest child of ten born to John and Katie (Goehring) Backhaus.  She grew up in a sod house near the river.  She graduated from Linton High School before her marriage to Neil Beitelspacher in August of 1945. Together, they farmed west of Temvik before moving to Bismarck.  Lyla always helped her husband with sales work as well as farm work.  She also worked as a school cook and aide.

Lyla enjoyed baking, cooking, reading and visiting with her family and friends.  She was knowledgeable about family history on the Goehring and Backhaus side and loved making those connections with family.

Lyla was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Linton and a former member of Grace Lutheran Brethren in Bismarck. Being 96 years old did not stop her from attending Sunday services and Bible study.  After Neil's death in 2021, Lyla became a resident at Prairie Rose Assisted Living in Linton.
