Mark Thore Naaden, 64, Braddock, ND, was welcomed into Christ's arms on January 9, 2019.

Visitation will begin at 2:00 pm on Sunday, January 13, at St. Katherine's Catholic Church, Braddock, with a Prayer Service at 3:00 pm.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Monday, January 14, 2019, at St. Katherine's Catholic Church, Braddock. Burial will follow at St. Katherine's Cemetery.

Mark was born on November 2, 1954, in Bismarck, ND, to Lawrence "Pete" and Mary Ellen (Marx) Naaden. He grew up in Braddock and graduated from Braddock High School in 1973. He majored in diesel mechanics at North Dakota State School of Science.  Mark worked on the ranch with his dad Pete, his brother David and his uncle Ted. On August 17, 1985, he married Tami Schumaker at Trinity Lutheran Church in Napoleon, ND. The couple made their home on the family ranch.

Ranching and farming was much more than a career for Mark. Each day he began with his faithful prayer, "Lord, let me be your hands. Lord, let me feed your flock." Then he would go about the day working to feed the world.

Mark was known for his dry, witty humor and practical jokes. When he wasn't farming and ranching, he could be undoubtedly found outdoors hunting and fishing. Mark often enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and relatives.

Mark served his community in various capacities. He was a dedicated parishioner at St. Katherine's and served on its Board of Trustees. He served as the Vice Chairman and Chairman of the District 28 Republicans, was a member of the South Central Grain Board, chief of the Braddock Fire Department, and president of the Braddock Fire Department Board.

Mark never viewed his diagnosis of cancer as a punishment. Rather, he embraced it with faith as he journeyed to Our Lord's arms.

Mark is survived by his wife, Tami; four daughters, Jill (Steven) Quinlivan, Braddock, ND; Jennifer Naaden, Braddock, ND; Sarah (Landry) Haich, Gladstone, ND; and Laura (Aryan) Eells, Bismarck, ND; one son, Theodore Naaden, Braddock, ND; seven grandchildren, Caiden, Brigid, Abigail, Andrew, Keegan, and Finley Quinlivan, and Benton Haich; his parents, Pete and Mary Ellen Naaden; 10 sisters, Karen (Ken) Karls, Bismarck, ND; Gail (John) Geddes, Broomfield, CO; Connie (David) Sprynczynatyk, Bismarck, ND; Janice (Jerry) Hystad, Helena, MT; Marlys (Jay) Fisher, Minot, ND; Nita (Gary) Anderson, Riverdale, ND; Laurie (Steven) Miller, Scottsdale, AZ; Carol (Dan) Weiler, Minneapolis, MN; Ellen (Randy) Wissink, Spring, TX; and Jeanne (Dan) Flaherty, Watertown, SD; one brother, David (Denise) Naaden, June Lake, CA; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and brothers- and sisters-in-law.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Geralyn; nephews, Raymond Naaden and Craig Hystad; niece, Anne Marie Sprynczynatyk; his maternal grandparents, Thomas, and Eleanor Marx; and his paternal grandparents, Thore and Birdie Naaden.
