Marlon Gene Ohlhauser 60, passed away Wednesday, December 2, 2020, at Sanford Health, Bismarck, North Dakota surrounded by his family.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 am, Wednesday, December 9, 2020, St. Anthony Catholic Church, Linton, ND with Father Dave Zimmer officiating. We ask that all follow Covid-19 pandemic health and safety guidelines by wearing masks and social distancing.

Public visitation will be held Tuesday, December 8, 2020, at Myers Funeral Home from 3:00p.m.-6:00p.m. with a private family visitation starting at 6:00p.m.-8:00p.m. and vigil starting at 7:00 p.m.

Marlon Gene Ohlhauser was born on January 29, 1960 to Alex and Jean (Lammert) Ohlhauser in Linton, ND. He grew up in rural Linton graduating in 1978 from Linton High School. After high school he attended North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton where he studied to be an electrician. Marlon was never very fond of hot weather and he could often be found wiping his brow with a handkerchief - so on July 23, 1982, the hottest day of the year, he married his high school sweetheart, Sheila Dosch, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Strasburg, ND.

In October 1979, Marlon joined the North Dakota National Guard attending Basic Training in Fort Leonard Wood, MO. After returning from Basic Training he spent 18 months working in the oil fields of western North Dakota. At the early age of 52 his father, Alex, suffered a heart attack and Marlon returned to Linton to help his father on the family farm. He had a passion for working with cattle which began a 14-year career with the North Dakota Stockmen's Association as a Brand Inspector. Marlon was a hard worker and was never afraid to get his hands dirty. Throughout the years he was able to work many different types of jobs: he was active in the ND National Guard for 12 years performing the jobs of electrician and demolition expert, he worked at Sayler Implement, as an electrician for Jack's Electric for six years, and as a rural mail carrier for the US Postal Service, all while working the farm and ranch.

Marlon lived his dream raising his strong-willed family with the love of his life, Sheila. Together they taught their three sons the value of a hard work ethic, responsibility, the importance of helping others, and that Sheila's opinion is always right. He ensured to pass on the family tradition of farming and ranching with his sons as he furthered his dream of running the ranch. Most importantly of all, Marlon taught his family to never give up on their dreams.

No matter how busy he was, Marlon loved to find time to spend with his four grandsons and much anticipated first granddaughter as they were his pride and joy. He enjoyed having his grandchildren "work" with him on the ranch, which often turned into more fun than work. It became Grandpa Marlon's morning ritual to make his famous eggbake that none other could match.

Nieces and nephews loved to hang out with Uncle Marlon, especially while butchering and picking rocks. They learned many life lessons during this time, including some that were a little advanced.

Marlon lived his best life when he was with family. He loved a spur-of-the-moment get-together, a holiday gathering, or working on the beloved ranch he built with his family, all while telling his stories (some of which may or may not have been stretched a little bit!)

Marlon will be deeply missed by his wife of 38 years, Sheila of Linton, sons Waylon (Heidi) of Hague, Brent (Sarah) of Linton, Austin (Kendra) of Linton; five grandchildren: Colten and Oliver; Westen, Jamison and Brook; mother Jeanie Ohlhauser, Linton; brothers Monte (Judane) of Bismarck, Henry (Tori) of Bismarck; father-in-law Al Dosch; sisters-in-law Cheri (Steve) Schmidt, Linda (Hugh) David, Kathy Dosch, Patti (Eric) Erlandson; brother-in-law Tom (Tina) Dosch; 22 nieces and nephews and 11 great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father Alex, sister Wanda (Marvin Praus), mother-in-law Judy Dosch, and sister-in-law Karen Dosch.

Due to COVID concerns we will not be gathering for lunch following the service.
