Martha Heier, 97, Strasburg ND, formerly of Herreid, SD and rural Hague, ND, died June 16, 2015 in the Linton Hospital, Linton, ND. Services will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 10:30 AM at St.Michael's Catholic Church, Herreid, SD with Rev. Thomas Clement officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic Church Cemetery, Hague, ND. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 PM Friday, June 19, at Myer's Funeral Home, Linton, ND where a prayer service will be held at 7:30 PM. Martha was born to Emanuel and Theresa Miller on February 10, 1918 on a farm near Hague. She married Peter Heier on November 24th, 1941 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Hague. Peter served in the South Pacific while Martha raised their son Kenneth, until the Japanese surrender in 1945 when he returned home to meet his son for the first time at 3 years old. After the war, they purchased a farm near the State line along US Highway 83 where they raised their children and farmed from 1945 until 1976, when they retired from farming and moved to Herreid. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Peter in May, 2012, and her daughter Katherine in October, 2014; her brothers Bert, Joe, Frank, and Julius; and her sister Mary Brandner; her son-in-law, Sam Hoffman, and her daughter-in-law Phyllis (Ken).Martha is survived by her children, Kenneth, Bismarck ND; Laurella Weninger (Floyd), Green Valley AZ; Eugene (Judy), Eden Prairie MN; Elaine Hendrickson, (Tarry) Bismarck, ND. She is also survived by her grandchildren and great grandchildren; Ken's daughter Tina Ness (Chris) and their son Andrew of Mandan, ND; Kathy's daughter Shannon Russell and her sons, Kegan and Kyler of Wichita, KS, her daughter Nancy Kurtz, Fargo ND, and her children, Amber, Alyssa, and Brandon; Amber's daughter Aubrey Luna; Laurella's daughters, Kimberly Townsend (Brian), Coal Valley, IL, and Kari Kasprzyk (Dave) of Flagstaff, AZ, and their children Taylor, Meagan, and Carter; Eugene's daughters, Nicole Marohl, (Chris) of Bloomington, MN and Danielle and her daughter Emily and sons, Vincent and Oliver, of Shakopee, MN; Elaine's daughter Sara Buckman (Brian) of Bismarck ND, and their daughter Zoey, and son Weston; and her son Jon-Erik of Minneapolis, MN; her surviving siblings include Maggie Kovarik, Chatsworth, CA; Felix Miller (Angie), Bismarck ND; Katie Fischer, Linton, ND; Carolyn Wald, Bismarck, ND; Viola Eberle, Bismarck ND.
