Mary Pfeifer Engel, 94, of Strasburg, ND, died March 16, 2012 in the Strasburg Care Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Hague, ND with Reverend Paul Eberle officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 19, 2012 from 10:00am to 5:00pm at the Myers Funeral Home, Linton and from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at the church with a prayer service at 7:30pm. Mary was born March 11, 1918 in Zeeland, ND, the daughter of Sylvester and Elizabeth (Weigel) Werlinger. She attended country school. She stayed at home to help her sick mother. She married Joe Pfeifer at St. John's Catholic Church, Zeeland on January 27, 1947. They farmed northeast of Hague until 1979 when they moved into Hague. Mary worked at the Strasburg Care Center for 12 years and cleaned the church for many years. Joe died on October 25, 1985. She continued to live in Hague. She married Jacob Engel in Selby, SD on August 14, 1996. They lived in Hague and then moved to Ashley. They enjoyed traveling and going to casinos. Jacob died in May of 2001. Mary moved into the NoDak Apartments in Linton in 2002. She entered the Strasburg Care Center in May of 2006. She was a member of St. Mary's Altar Society. She enjoyed playing cards, and spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law: Dennis and Yvonne Pfeifer, Minneapolis, MN, Harry and Joyce Pfeifer, Hague, ND and David and Susan Pfeifer, Bismarck, ND; six grandchildren: Ryan (Denise) Pfeifer, Jared (Janelle) Pfeifer, Renae (Josh) Malard, Shawna (Josh) Dvorak, Justin Pfeifer and Becky (Paul) Weinberger; and eleven great-grandchildren: Natalie, Jordan, Carter, Kaitlyn, Jenna, Ben, Elena, Skye, Hayes, Trace and Mason. She was preceded in death by her parents, her spouses: Joe Pfeifer and Jacob Engel; an infant daughter, Marietta; two brothers: Ted and Tony; and two sisters: Barbara and Katie.
