Obituary

Mike William Schneider, 88, of Strasburg, ND, passed away May 24, 2023 in the Strasburg Care Center with his family by his side. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Strasburg, ND with Fr. Shannon Lucht officiating.  Visitation will be from 5pm to 7pm, Tuesday, May 30, 2023 with a rosary and prayer service at 7:00 PM at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.  Burial will be held at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery, Strasburg.

Mike was born on May 5, 1935, to Wendelin and Ottilia (Haag) Schneider.  He grew up on the family  farm east of Strasburg and attended country school.  Mike and Johanna moved to Milwaukee and worked in the factories and then made their way back to ND. Mike married Johanna Wickenheiser on September 8, 1958 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Strasburg.  They made Bismarck their home for three years.  In 1961, they moved to Strasburg.  Mike worked at the Strasburg Cheese Plant then worked road construction as a truck driver until retiring in 1997.

Mike was a past member of the Beaver Valley Horse Club, Lions Club and was a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus.

Mike enjoyed playing cards, puzzles, watching westerns, listening to polka music, feeding the squirrels, and spending time with family and friends.  You could often find dad and mom sitting in the garage and visiting with the endless friends that stopped by.

Mike is survived by his wife of 64 years, Johanna; Six children:  Michael (Cheryl), Hazelton, Leroy (Suzy), Larimore,  Jerry, Strasburg, Brenda (Lloyd) Dosch, Bismarck,  Betty, Bismarck; and Bonnie, Bismarck;  Nine Grandchildren:  Matt Dosch, Tanner (Tasha) Dosch, Landon Schneider, Cole Schneider, Jenifer (Brent) Schneider, Heather (Austin) Bernhardt, Shannon Schneider, Sierra Nelson, Kayla (Michael) Baumgartner, & Ranae Jangula;  Great-grandchildren: Aryana, Ivy, Eden, Noah, Jace, Bennett, Rose, Morgan, Ben, Nick, Dylan, & Jeremy;  one great-great grandchild, Liam.  He is also survived by one sister, Mary Grinsteiner, Linton.

Mike was preceded in death by one son, Franklin, his parents Wendelin and Ottilia Schneider, two brothers: Alvin & John; four sisters: Angie Frison, Helen Holzer, Betty Bosch and Katie Bosch.
