Nina Lawler, 76, of Linton, ND, died September 14, 2010 in Roundup, MT after a battle with pancreatic cancer, surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held at 10:00am Saturday, September 18, 2010 at Peace Lutheran Church, Linton with the Reverend Fred Henkelmann officiating. Burial will be in the Lawler Cemetery, Linton. Visitation will be held on Friday from 3:00pm to 5:00pm at the Myers Funeral Home, Linton and for 1 hour before the services at the church on Saturday. Nina Lou was born on October 17, 1933 the daughter of Sadie Martha Bales and Leslie Ray Putnam at the family farm. She attended rural school, Winona #7, graduated from Valley City High School and continued on to receive her RN degree in 1955. Nina married Teddie Lawler . Nina worked as an RN in Linton for 10 years. During those years, they had four children. After starting her family, Nina returned to school completing her CRNA license. She worked as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist at surrounding Hospitals including: Linton, Eureka, Wishek, Bowdle and Ashley. She also covered vacations for CRNAs in Valley City, Dickinson and Aberdeen until her retirement. Nina served her community in many ways. She was an active member of Peace Lutheran Church, serving as circle chairman, teaching Vacation Bible School, confirmation classes, and sunday school. She also served as a project director for Emmons County Council on Aging. Nina prepared and obtained a grant for the first Emmons County Transit. She also served as the Vice President at the Senior Citizens Center, a Girl Scout neighborhood chairman, member of Advisory Council for Linton Civic Leaders, American Legion Auxiliary, and Linton Missionary Society. Nina died September 14, 2010 after a battle with pancreatic cancer. She was surrounded by her family. She is survived by her husband, Ted Lawler of Linton, ND; her children: Dean and Betty Lawler of Roundup, MT, Jody and Kathleen Lawler of Linton, ND, Todd and Margie Lawler of Linton, ND and Amy and Dean Kossila of Zimmerman, MN; fourteen cherished grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; brother: Clinton Putnam of Ft. Yates, ND and Walter Putnam of Laurel, MT; sisters: Mabel Haynie of Circle, MT, Bernice Wagner of Granada Hills, CA, Florence Larson of Homer, AK and Glennys Ulschak of New London, CT and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents: Leslie and Martha Putnam; brothers: Robert Putnam and Grant Putnam; and sisters: Dorothy Pollock and Norma Heyne.
