Pauline was born on the family farm near Westfield, ND on March 1, 1922, the daughter of Henry and (Boujke) Bessie Klysma DeBoer. She attended the rural Nieuwsma School through the 8 th grade.

She married John Stam on March 23, 1945 and together they had 2 children, Clayton Wayne and Marilyn Jean. They lived on the Stam family homestead until John passed away in 1950. Pauline then moved to Pollock with her children. She was a homemaker and farmer, with the help of her brother, Harry DeBoer. In 1957 Pauline's mother and brother moved into their new house in the new town of Pollock. One year later Pauline and her children moved in to help care for her mother.

Pauline enjoyed raising her garden and canning the produce. She loved baking and would often win 1 st prize for her bread and pies at the Pollock corn show. She especially liked to share her homemade treats with family and friends. Pauline was proud of the many flowers she grew in her yard and enjoyed showing them to friends who stopped by to visit. Over the years, Pauline also made many quilts and refinished furniture for family and friends.

Grateful to have shared her life are her daughter, Marilyn Jean Stam and Dr. Curtis Anthony Anderson of Santa Barbara, CA; daughter-in-law, Bondell 'Bonnie' Stam of Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Shawn (Sharon) Stam, and Shaundra Stam; great-grandchildren, Erica (David) Johnston, Cheyene Stam, and Piper Klai Stam-Patterson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John in November, 1950; parents; her siblings, Klas and Betty Zandstra, Albert and Matilda Zandstra, Andrew and Anna Zandstra, and Harry DeBoer in December, 1996; her son, Clayton, in August, 2007.
