Peter Jacob Vetter was born February 7, 1936 on a farm southwest of Linton, ND, the son of John A. and Rose (Volk) Vetter. He was raised and educated in a country school southwest of Linton. Pete farmed with his parents until entering the US National Guard. He served during the Cuban Crisis. Peter was discharged and returned to farm with his parents. Peter farmed until retiring in 2008. He continued to live on the family farm where he died on June 22, 2013. Pete's greatest love was farming and his cattle. He also enjoyed deer hunting, watching TV, collecting farm toys and spending time with family and friends, especially his nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Pete was a member of Bismarck Moose and Eagles Clubs and Linton American Legion. Pete is survived by two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Jerry and Darlene Vetter, Bismarck, ND, Jim Vetter, Mandan, ND and Paulette Vetter, Mandan, ND; one sister and brother-in-law, Delores Jahner of Bismarck, ND and Kasper Lauinger of Jamestown, ND; as well as several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, George Vetter, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Rosemarie and Charles Gefroh, Isabella Lauinger and Herman Jahner; and one niece, Kimberly.
