Pius Lacher, 91, Bismarck, ND, formerly of Zeeland, ND, died Monday, October 14, 2013 at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck, ND. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 19, 2013 at Church of St. Anne, Bismarck with Rev. Wayne Sattler officiating. Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Parkway Funeral Home, Bismarck, ND where a prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m.Burial will be at St. Andrew's Catholic Cemetery, Zeeland, ND at 4:00 p.m. Saturday with Rev. Wenceslaus Katanga officiating. Pius was born November 21, 1921, near Zeeland, ND, the son of Anton and Barbara (Geffre) Lacher. He grew up and attended school at Zeeland. Pius served in the US Army before returning to farm at Zeeland. He married Mary Hulm at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Hague, ND on July 8, 1946. They moved to Valley View Heights, Bismarck, in 2008. Pius entered the Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center in 2011. Pius loved spending time with his family, especially playing with his grandchildren.He also enjoyed playing cards. Pius was a member of the American Legion and the Civilian Conservation Corps. Pius is survived by his wife, Mary, of Bismarck, ND, five sons and five daughters-in-law, David and Marilyn Lacher, Moorhead, MN, Gerald and Lila Lacher, Lebanon, SD, Harold and Clara Lacher, Richland, WA, Pius Jr. & Gloria Lacher, Zeeland, ND and Allan and Judy Lacher of Bismarck, ND, five daughters and four sons-in-law, Marian Constenius of Minneapolis, MN, Brenda and John Moss of Aurora, IL, Beverly and Jerry Klym of Omaha, NE, Rhonda and George Leingang of Solen, ND, Michele and Robert Miller of Kansas City, KS and son-in-law, Francis Ziegler, Bismarck, ND, 27 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren.Pius was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Juliana Ziegler, six sisters, Barbara and Katie (in infancy), and Theresa, Barbara, Katie, and Rose, and nine brothers, Sebastian, Peter, George, Mike, Paul, Anton, Lawrence, Frank and Roy.
