Obituary

Rainer Heier, 83, Hague, ND, died Tuesday, February 9, 2010 in a Mandan Care Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 13, 2010 at St. Marys Catholic Church, Hague, ND with Rev. Paul Eberle officiating. Burial will be in the spring in St. Marys Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday at Myers Funeral Home, Linton, ND and from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the church in Hague, where there will be a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour before services at the church on Saturday. Rainer was born April 14, 1926, on a farm near Hague, ND, the son of Michael and Catherine (Feist) Heier. He grew up on the family farm and attended country school. He married Alice Miller at St. Marys Catholic Church in Bismarck, ND on January 21, 1948. Rainer worked in Bismarck for John L. Larson as a carpenters helper, and then he moved in with his brother, Pete, on the farm near Hague. Rainer bought his Uncle Josephs farm in 1949, where he operated a dairy farm. He enjoyed doing carpentry work in the Hague area, including building homes. In 1965, he built a new home on the farm, doing all the work with the help of his family. Rainer also ran a print shop from his basement and sold hundreds of wood burning stoves. He was a charter and honorary member of St. Marys Knights of Columbus # 5298 and a charter and honorary member of Msgr. John Selder Assembly Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus # 1814, a member of the Strasburg Lions Club and Hague Senior Citizens Club. Rainer will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife: Alice of Hague, ND; six sons and two daughters-in-law: Francis Heier of Fargo, ND, Clarence Heier of Mesa, AZ, Joseph and Debbie Heier of Sumner, WA, Gary Heier of Tacoma, WA, Steve Heier of Bismarck, ND and Andrew and Yvonne Heier of Tampa, FL; four daughters and three sons-in-law: Jane Roehrich of Linton, ND, Linda and Jim Mitchell of Minneapolis, MN, Marie and Rick Landsberger of Bismarck, ND and Michelle and Ron Anijo of Tacoma, WA; 26 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter; seven brothers and four sisters-in-law: Peter and Martha Heier of Herried, SD, Erwin Heier of Eureka, SD, Leonard Heier and friend, Wanita of Yakima, WA, Tony Heier of Ipswich, SD, William and Christine Heier of Bismarck, ND, Tim and Jane Heier of Hague, ND and Leo and Johanna Heier of Bismarck, ND; two sisters and one brother-in-law: Emma Knoll of St. Paul, MN and Leonita and Victor Heilman of Bismarck, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, David and Richard, one brother, Julius, two sisters, Helen and Maggie and one son-in-law, Patrick Roehrich.
