Ralph Raymond Baker, 87, Strasburg, formerly of Hazelton, ND, died Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at the Strasburg Care Center, Strasburg, ND. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 1, 2011 at First Presbyterian Church, Hazelton, ND, with Rev. Spencer Baker officiating. Burial will be in the Gayton-Gimbel Cemetery, Hazelton. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at Myers Funeral Home. Visitation will continue one hour before service time on Friday. Ralph was born October 31, 1923 on a farm near Hazelton, ND, the son of William and Selma (Horstmeyer) Baker. He was raised and educated near Hazelton. Ralph married Agnes Ackerman on January 22, 1947 in Hazelton. They made their home on a farm west of Hazelton. Ralph farmed and did custom combining for several area farmers. He also worked for Kimberly-Clark processing flax straw in North Dakota and Minnesota. He also worked for Claude and Clarice Saville on their farm. Agnes died on November 27, 1995. Ralph continued to live in Hazelton until moving to Bismarck in 2005. He had been a resident at the Strasburg Care Center for the last two years. Ralph enjoyed farming, hunting, trapping, dancing, visiting with family and friends. He is survived by five sons and four daughters-in-law: Maynard and Linda Baker of Center, ND, Delbert and Donna Baker of Buffalo, MO, Marvin and Ilene Baker of Carpio, ND, Kerwin Baker of Moorhead, MN, and Gary and Tina Baker of Lincoln, ND; one daughter and son-in-law: Louann and J. R. Cox of Jamestown, ND, eleven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren; four sisters and brothers-in-law: Katie and Larry Lammert of Hazelton, ND, Bernice and Manard Flegel of Hazelton, ND, Erma and Henry Diaz of Sacramento, CA and Beverly and Rod McGlothin of Baltimore, MD. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in 1995, two infant children, eight brothers and one sister.
