Richard Mitzel, Zeeland, ND went to his heavenly home on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 surrounded by his loved ones.  He was 73 years old.

Richard Francis Mitzel was born on October 2, 1945 to Simon and Annie (Gabriel) Mitzel.  He grew up east of Zeeland on the family farm.  Richard graduated from Zeeland High School in 1964.  He was a member of St. Andrews Catholic Church.

Richard always said that the day his is son was born was the most important day of his life.  He taught his son a love for cars and tractors.  He also taught him all of his mechanical techniques that Richard had learned throughout his years.

Richard will be missed by many especially the love of his life, Janell Knoepfle of Zeeland; his son Richard Simon "Richie" of Zeeland; his sisters, Lucretia (Victor) Feist of Zeeland,  Rita (Leo) Mastel of Strasburg, ND; LaVerne (Gene) Fettig of Bismarck, ND; sister-in-law, Marie Vogel of Bismarck, ND; brother-in-law, James Engelhart.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Simon James "Sam"; and his sister Florence Englehart.
