Obituary

Richard "Dick" Senftner, 80, Herreid, SD, passed away on Friday, April 5, 2019 at the Linton Hospital, Linton, ND.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 am on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Herreid, SD with Fr. Tom Clement officiating. (A Rosary will begin shortly after 10:00 am. at the church) Cremation has taken place.

Burial will be held at the church cemetery, at a later date.​

Richard was born to Michael and Elizabeth (Laber) Senftner in Campbell County, SD, on April 2, 1939.  He graduated from Herreid High School in 1958, after which he joined the National Guard and was honorably discharged.  In 1960 he became a partner in Senftner Chevrolet.​
He married Donna Jund on July 13, 1968.  They were blessed with two sons, David and Scott.​
Richard was the manager of Senftner Chevrolet Oldsmobile Pontiac, Inc., for 35 years.  Later, he joined the sales team at Larry Jensen Motors for 7 years before retiring.​
He belonged to various local organizations over the years, and was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church.  Fishing, hunting, watching football and old westerns were some of his favorite hobbies.  ​
Richard is survived by his wife of 50 years, Donna, and sons David, of Herreid, and Scott (Jill) of Bismarck.  He is also survived by a sister, Stella, of Sun Valley, CA, and many nieces and nephews.​
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Frances, Mathilda, and Agnes, and brothers Lawrence, Raymond, and James.​
