Robert "Bobby" Fischer, 85, Hague, ND, died Saturday, June 8, 2013 in the Strasburg Care Center, Strasburg, ND. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 13, 2013 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Hague, ND with Rev. Jason Signalness officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday at Myers Funeral Home, Linton, and continue from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the church in Hague where a prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Robert "Bobby" Fischer was born June 23, 1927 in Hague, ND, the son of Carl and Philippine (Mitzel) Fischer. He was raised and educated in Hague. Bobby graduated from the Hague High School in 1945. He served in the US Army for 1 1/2 years. Following his discharge, he returned to Hague where he worked at Schall Hardware Store. Bobby married Phyllis Kraft on August 22, 1949 at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Strasburg, ND. Following their marriage, they lived in Hague where Bobby continued to work for Schall Hardware. He also owned and operated the Hague Grocery Store, was the Hague Postmaster for more than 25 years and was Hague City Auditor for 33 years. Bobby retired in 1989 but continued to live in Hague. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church where he served in many capacities. He was a life member of the Knights of Columbus as a 4th degree knight. He was also a member of Linton American Legion and Hague Amvets. Bobby enjoyed sports, playing cards, bowling and visiting with family and friends. Bobby is survived by his wife, Phyllis, Hague, ND; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Duane Fischer, Hague, ND, Alan Fischer, Minneapolis, MN, Galen and Mary Fischer, Breckenridge, MN and Mark and Karen Fischer, Cedar Rapids, IA; one daughter, Brenda Fischer, Jamestown, ND; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Tommy and Carol Fischer, Minneapolis, MN and Carl A. Fischer, Jr., Minneapolis, MN; and one sister, Rita Badzinski, Minneapolis, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Clarence; and three sisters, Loretta Reede, Donata Price and Anna Mae Heilman.
