Obituary

Bob Martin, 63, of Linton, ND, passed to his reward on Sunday, Oct. 20,2024, due to complications from rheumatoid arthritis.  Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30am on Friday, October 25, 2024 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Linton, ND with Fr. Mark Aune officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 5pm to 7pm on Thursday, October 24, 2024 at Sannes Feist Family Funeral Home, Linton. There will be a vigil and a time of sharing at 7pm.

Bob Martin was born April 15, 1961, the son of Robert J and Brigitta (Gross) Martin.  A lifetime resident of Linton; he attended Linton Public School and graduated as an honor student.  His next educational pursuit was at Bismarck State College, where he completed his general education courses, eventually graduating from the University of North Dakota with a Masters in Industrial Technology.

An avid hunter and fisherman, he moved back to Linton where he could continue hunting, and  was employed by Martin Oil.   He loved the outdoors and was both a gun and bow hunter.  One of his most surprising skills was bow hunting carp.

His love of the outdoors led him to one of his most beloved hobbies, that of scenic wildlife photography.  One of his pictures was purchased by Senator Mark Andrews, where it graced the walls of his Washington office. He spent many Sundays traveling the Linton area in pursuit of just the right picture and listening to Car Talk and NPR The Moth.  He especially enjoyed taking pictures of ducks and horses.  This "back road story listening" led him to attempt his own writing.  He had several short stories published in the Emmons County Record.  His creativity extended to remodeling his first and second homes and building many pieces of furniture to enhance them.

This articulate, witty, creative man was the son of Robert John Martin and Brigitta (Gross) Martin who preceded him in death.  He is survived by his sister, Kathy; his brothers, Kalvin and Bruce (Denise) and his nephews: Trevor (Shaylyn) and their daughter, Carson; Justin, and Matthew; and his niece, Alexis Wangler (Wendlin VI) and their children: Reese, Rayah, Renna, and Rosie.
