Rodney Warren Gesellchen, age 72 of Bismarck, ND, passed away on May 30, 2024, at the Strasburg ND Care Center. A visitation will be held at the Sannes Feist Family Funeral Home in Linton, ND, on July 18th, 2024, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. A gravesite service will be held at the Denhoff Cemetery, Denhoff, ND, at 1:30 p.m. on July 20, 2024. Coffee and a social at the Denhoff Community Center will follow the burial service.

Rodney was born to parents Peter and Mary (Isley) Gesellchen on April 21, 1952 in Bismarck, ND. He grew up in and attended school in Hazelton, ND, graduating in 1970. He attended Mary College in Bismarck and the State School of Science in Wahpeton, ND. Later he received his BA from Minot State University.

Rodney lived and worked for several years in Bismarck, ND. He was a former Hazelton city commissioner and delivered Meals on Wheels for several years in the Hazelton area. Rodney enjoyed tinkering with small engines and designing and making woodworking projects. He liked old cars and going to car shows. He knew many details about classic cars and enjoyed the old car hobby. Rodney enjoyed his family and had a great memory of people and events.

He is survived by his brothers Cliff (Jo Ann) Gesellchen, Peter Gesellchen, and his sister Mary Nielsen. He is also survived by nephews and nieces: John Carlson, Andrea (Joel) Ostapowich and their son, Isacc; Michael (Jessica) Gesellchen and their children Evan and Cora: Angie (Josh) Clarke; Andrew Nielsen; Adam (Taylor) Nielsen and their children Knox, Kennedy and Kamryn; and Alex Nielsen.

Rodney was proceeded in death by his parents Peter and Mary Gesellchen, sister Marlene Carlson, and brother-in-law Kirby Nielsen.
