Roger G. Hanson, 70, Pollock, SD, died Friday, December 21, 2012 at St. Alexius Medical Center, Bismarck, ND. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 27, 2012 at Pollock Lutheran Church, Pollock, SD with Rev. Ramona Hayes officiating. Burial will be in Spring Creek Cemetery, Pollock. Visitation will be Wednesday from noon until 4 p.m. at Myers Funeral Home, Linton, ND and continue from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Pollock Lutheran Church, Pollock, SD. There will be a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Roger G, Hanson was born August 16, 1942 in Mobridge, SD, to Clemmet and Lydia (Kost)Hanson. He attended school in Pollock and graduated from Pollock High School in 1960. Roger married Judy Davis on November 24, 1961 at Pollock Memorial Presbyterian Church. Following their marriage, they lived in Brookings, SD until Roger graduated from SDSU in 1964. They then resided in Pollock and Roger farmed with his dad, while working part-time for the US Soil Conservation Service at Herreid. In 1968, they moved to their present farm. Roger taught an AG School to Veteran's in the 70's. He served on the Pollock School Board, Campbell County Extension Board, Pollock Lutheran Church Council, Oahe-Sub-Conservancy District Board-Advisory Board of the Spring Creek Watershed District, President of Mid-Dakota Polled Hereford Assn. and was a 4-H leader for many years. Roger liked working with cattle and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Roger is survived by his wife, Judy of Pollock, one son and two daughters-in-law, Troy and Jamie Hanson of Pollock, SD, and Sandra Hanson of College Station, TX one daughter and son-in-law, LaNae and Mark Harberts of Freeman, SD, eight grandchildren, Travis Hanson, Teirany Quinn, Davis, Taylor, Alexis, James, and Jacob Hanson and Charles Harberts, two great grandchildren, Skyler Hanson and Breydan Quinn, two brothers and sisters-in-law, Irve and Jean Hanson of Pollock, SD and Clifford and Elsie Hanson of Spearfish, SD, one sister, Joan Langbehn of Lewistown, MT, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Wade, and mother-in-law and father -in-law.
