Rose Wald, 92, of Strasburg, ND, passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at the Linton Hospital, Linton, ND, surrounded by her family. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 27, 2015 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Strasburg. Burial at the church cemetery and luncheon will follow the service. Visitation will be noon to 5 p.m. Thursday at Myers Funeral Home and continue from 6 to 9 p.m. at the church where there will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. Rose was born in Hague, ND on March 3, 1923. The daughter of Sebastian and Natalia (Braun) Scherr, Rose was the eldest of nine children. Rose was always very close with her mother and even passed away on Natalia's birthday. Rose married Martin Wald on February 1, 1944 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Strasburg, ND. Rose and Martin owned and operated a dairy farm located southeast of Strasburg, ND for over 40 years.Rose and Martin built a home in the town of Strasburg in 1983, after their son, Dennis Wald, took over the farming operation. This allowed Rose more time to pursue her many hobbies. Rose was an avid vegetable and flower gardener, an accomplished quilter and crocheter and an excellent baker and cook; preparing many German dishes for her family. Rose also enjoyed visiting and playing cards with her friends and family and watching her favorite television shows, such as, The Price is Right. Rose was a kind and loving wife, mother and grandmother and she especially loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Rose was also a devout Catholic that was devoted to prayer and attending mass. Rose was very active in the community and was a member of the Saint Mary's Society, Catholic Daughters, Senior Citizens, Germans from Russia, VFW Auxiliary and Business & Leisure Homemakers Club. Rose is survived by her three daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Dennis Horob, Williston, ND, Shirley and Dave Pearson, Savannah, TN, and Laura and Tom Baumgartner, Pollock, SD, and one son, Dennis Wald and his special friend, Debbie Senger, Strasburg, ND, two brothers and sisters-in-law, Pius and Benedicta Scherr, Strasburg, ND and Ray and Delores Scherr, Minnewauken, ND and two sisters, Sally Geisinger, Fergus Falls, MN and Bernie Kilber, Lodi, CA, and her grandchildren, Lynn Horob (friend Tresa), Keith (Tracy) Horob, Gregg (Michelle) Pearson, Leslie (Ronnie) Wright, Tom (Jessica) Baumgartner, Kristen (Keenyn) Borr, Jessica Wald (Fianc Jerrad Bodine) and Robbie Wald (friend Kasandra), 15 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Rose was preceded in death by her parents, husband Martin Wald, daughter, Delores Wald and four brothers Rick, Isadore, Otto and Anselm Scherr.
