Rose was born September 13, 1925, the daughter of Jacob and Katie (Schneider) Selzler. She was raised and attended country school west of Strasburg. On October 7, 1946, she married Lawrence Weichel at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, rural Hague. Rose worked and raised her family on the farm until they retired and moved to Strasburg in 1984. She baby-sat for eight years. In her spare time she enjoyed cooking/baking and was known for her chocolate chip kuchen. She also enjoyed gardening, sewing, (especially baby blankets and doll blankets), painting dish towels, and playing cards, (especially pinochle). Rose loved coloring, always doing a beautiful job. She continued coloring until the last month when she was no longer able to do so. Rose's favorite saying was "it just doesn't matter." She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Strasburg, St. Mary's Society, and VFW auxiliary. Rose entered the Strasburg Care Center in May, 2011. Grateful to have shared her life are 4 children, 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; Donald Weichel, Strasburg; Linda (Robert) Ripplinger, their children Darcy (Steve) Rostie, their children Alyssa and Alexa, Brian (Sharon) Ripplinger, Derek Ripplinger, and Brenda (Trevor) Schmidt, all of Regina, Sask, Betty (Lloyd) Brodt, their children, Jody and Lisa, all of Regina, Sask, Leonard (Cleo) Weichel, Strasburg; their children, Natosha Bismarck, Dion (Megan), their children, Ayden, Noah and Quinn, all of Minot, and Jennifer, Strasburg, 3 brothers and 5 sisters-in-law; Lillian Selzler, Strasburg, Patty Selzler, Oregon; Ervin (Kathryn) Selzler, Strasburg, Gene (Kathy) Selzler, Oregon and LeRoy (Connie) Selzler, Oregon; her husband's siblings, Anton Weichel, Elizabeth Weichel, Helen Weichel, Angie Weichel, all of Bismarck, and JoAnn Weichel, Arizona and several nieces and nephews. Rose was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Lawrence (1997), two brothers, Aloys and Leonard, her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joseph and Barbara Weichel, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Carl Weichel, Margaret (Rex) Nicholas, Joseph (Irene) Weichel, Mike Weichel, Rose (Jake) Schafer, Katie Weichel and Peggy Selzler.
