Rudolph "Rudy" Beska, formerly of Hazelton, ND, died Sunday, June 23, 2013 at the Strasburg Care Center, Strasburg, ND. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 27, 2013 at Myers Funeral Home Chapel, Linton, ND with Rev. Paul Brennen officiating. Burial will be at 3:00 p.m. Thursday at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND. Visistation will be for one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Rudy was born December 1, 1918, on a farm near Temvik, ND, the son of Frank and Christine (Kessler) Beska. He attended country school at the Sand Creek School. No. 2 southwest of Temvik. Rudy was a member of CCC's before being drafted. Rudy served in the US Army from 1942 to 1945. While he was in the military, he drove ambulance and was an auto equipment operator. When Rudy returned from the military, he worked for several area farmers. He had been a resident at the Strasburg Care Center since September, 2012. Rudy was a very kind-hearted, generous person. He loved to garden and did so until the age of 93. His favorite thing about gardening was giving the produce to friends. Just last Monday he asked the people living in his home if he could take rhubarb for his three physical therapists. He never missed buying candy for Annette, Angela and Jenny Moch-whether it was Christmas, Valentines Day, Easter or Halloween. Rudy loved cats and made sure there was always food in a pan near his front door for strays. He couldn't bend over to pet them so he used a broom for that purpose. Rudy enjoyed gardening, playing cards, visiting, reading, and watching TV, especially the Minnesota Twins. He is survived by nieces and nephews. Rudy was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, Albert, Fred, Ted, Edwin, Robert and Milbert (in infancy); and three sisters, Ida (Dale) Hamel, Ella (Al) Lidgreen and Irene (John) Lloyd.
