Obituary

Ruth (Rutschke) Reimer, 97, of Strasburg, ND, formerly of Herreid, SD, passed away peacefully on Good Friday, April 19, 2019.

A Funeral Service will be at 10:30 am on Tuesday, April 23 rd , 2019 at Zion Lutheran Church, Zeeland, ND. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will be at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Ruth was born August 5, 1921, the daughter of Jacob G. and Magdalena (Bauer) Rutschke in Emmons County.  She was raised in Emmons County and educated in a rural grade school.  She married Ferdinand Reimer on November 30, 1947, at Friedens Lutheran Church, rural Hague, ND.  They made their home on a farm northwest of Artas, SD, until October 1965 when they retired and moved to Herreid.  Ruth moved to the Strasburg Care Center in 2015 until her passing.

Ruth enjoyed being home and in her earlier years enjoyed gardening and sewing.  She worked on the farm next to her husband and enjoyed cooking for family and friends; no one ever went hungry after a visit to the Reimer home.  Ruth enjoyed watching sitcoms with her favorite being Everybody Loves Raymond .  One of her favorite hobbies was reading at home, and she enjoyed the poem "Footprints in the Sand."  Some other favorites are the songs "Mansion Over the Hilltop" and "America the Beautiful," begonia flowers, and the color blue.  Loved by all who met her, she became a mother and grandmother figure to many, and her stories will remain in many hearts.

Grateful to have shared her life are one brother and sister-in-law, Melvin and Alciena Rutschke of Zeeland, ND; one nephew, Jerome Rutschke and his wife, Dorinda of Zeeland, ND, and one great-niece, Casondra Rutschke of West Fargo, ND.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Magdalena; her husband, Ferdinand; one sister, Freida Rutschke; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Edward and Amelia Rutschke, Jake and Ruth Rutschke, and Gerhardt Rutschke; and her favorite pet, Queenie.
