Sebastian Meier, 92, Napoleon, formerly of Zeeland, ND, died Monday, June 3, 2013 in the Wishek Community Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 7, 2013 at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Zeeland, ND with Rev. Wenceslaus Katanga officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Zeeland. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the church where a prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour before service time on Friday at the church. Sebastian was born March 11, 1921 on a farm near Zeeland, ND, the son of Jochim and Julia (Yesel) Meier. He was raised and educated near Zeeland and attended country school. Sebastian married Katherine Braun on October 12, 1943 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Krassna, ND. They lived and farmed northeast of Zeeland. They retired from farming in 1978 and moved into Zeeland. Katherine died on January 14, 1992. Sebastian continued to live in Zeeland. He had been a resident of the Napoleon Care Center for the past two years. He died June 3, 2013 in the Wishek Community Hospital. Sebastian was a member of St. Andrews's Catholic Church, Life Member of the Knights of Columbus. He was very devoted to St. John's and St. Andrew's Catholic churches. He took great care in the churches and the cemetery. Sebastian will always be remembered for his faith. He is survived by four sons and five daughters-in-law, Alvin and Darlene Meier, Dickinson, ND, Charlotte Meier, Regent, ND, Magnus and Grace Meier, Hettinger, ND, Joseph and Jill Meier, Bismarck, ND, and Gerard and Dorothy Meier, Zeeland, ND, three daughters and sons-in-law, Katherine and Victor Geiger, Mandan, ND, Seraphine and Rodney Heiser, Aberdeen, SD and Rita and Terry Bisbee, Hutchinson, MN, and 23 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in 1992, two grandchildren, one son, Sebastian Meier, Jr., eleven brothers, Jochim, Adam, Joseph, Peter, Anton, Ben, Frank, John and in infancy, Joe, Kasper(six months) and Kasper(in infancy), and five sisters, Ann Volk, Sister Gemella, Julia Volk, Mary Ripplinger, Magdalena Ripplinger.
