Obituary

Sharon Ellingson, 78, formerly of Linton, ND, passed away Sunday, Oct. 16, 2016 at Sanford Health, Bismarck, ND. Visitation will be held at Myers Funeral Home, Linton, on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 from 6-8 PM, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Rock Creek Lutheran Church, Osage, Iowa at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 22, 2016 with visitation one hour before services. Burial will be at Rock Creek Cemetery, Osage, Iowa, with luncheon to follow. Sharon was born December 26, 1937 to Gaylord and Ruth (Hvattum) Lunde, Osage, IA. She grew up and attended school in Osage where she met the love of her life, Larry Ellingson. After graduating from Osage High School, Sharon attended Waldorf University in Forest City, IA. Sharon and Larry were later united in marriage Dec. 21, 1958 at Rock Creek Lutheran Church in Osage, IA. The couple were blessed with three children. Sharon worked various accounting and secretarial positions throughout her life, and after several moves, Sharon and Larry retired in Strasburg, ND. Sharon was a loving mother, wife, and grandmother. She enjoyed entertaining, cooking, bowling, and attending her grandchildren's sporting events. Sharon was strongly rooted in her Christian faith and was a member of the Lutheran Women's Circle and the Eastern Star. She conveyed her faith to her children and saw to it they were brought up with a Christian education. Sharon is survived by her three children, Martin Ellingson (Kris Wilke), Strasburg, ND, Marie Anderson (Daryl Snow), Mankato, MN, David (Renae) Ellingson, Strasburg, ND, nine grandchildren, Brandon Ellingson (Shelby), Lauren (Jeremy) O'Keefe, Clinton (Amee) McDonald, Gregory McDonald (Melissa), Lindsay (Derrick) Schlangen, Randi Anderson, Raven (Mario) Carroll, Drew Ellingson, and Riley Ellingson, five great- grandchildren, her sister-in-law Jean Lunde, Osage, IA; and two nephews, Gregg Lunde and Matthew (Ally) Lunde and one niece, Angela (Jay) Montgomery. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant sister, Opal, and brother, Glennys Lunde.
