Services for Susan have been changed, due to weather, to the following: The funeral service will be on Sunday, October 13, 2019 at 2:30 PM at First Baptist Church, Linton. Burial will follow at the Linton city cemetery.

Susan Jeannie (Gibbons) Sandwick, 76, of Linton North Dakota, passed away October 7, 2019. Susan (aka Houdini to her dad, Susie to her siblings, Mom to her kids, Momma Sue to her other kids, Sue to her friends, and Trouble to people around town) was born in Cascade, Idaho, November 18, 1942.

Sue graduated from Meridian High School in 1960 and went on to Multnomah School of the Bible, graduating with a degree in religious studies. She moved to Seattle where she was a single mom supporting her little family by becoming the first woman in her office to wear pants and teaching herself punch-card programming. She met Richard Sandwick while working for Whitney-Fidalgo, married him in 1973 in Vancouver WA, and moved to North Dakota in 1974 to raise their family on a farm east of Temvik.

Sue played softball, got elected to the school board, was active in Homemakers, 4-H, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, The North Dakota Council on Aging, The Emmons County Historical Society, Red Hats, Emmons County Tourism Council, etc., and still had time to go to all her kids' events from Speech and Debate to Football and Volleyball and everything in between.

When she wasn't at church, a meeting, or a game, Sue loved to read. She instilled a love of reading in her kids that was so strong that she often told them to "Put the… book down and look out the … window" on long car rides. Sue was also very musical singing alto in the church choir as well as many Easter cantatas.  She also sang in the ND Centennial musical "Liberty!" and was cast as "Regina" in the Linton Centennial Musical "Heartland".

Left to cherish Sue's memory are her son Brian Keith Whitney and his partner Susan Pitino ; daughter Sarah Edrie , her partner Walter Alice Sickert , and their daughter Wednesday ; Daughter Shari Mosser , her husband Jason Mosser , and their children Roland and Lara ; brothers Doug Stowell and Ken Gibbons and sisters Barbara Luter , Irys Gibbons , and Joan Glinn ; as well as enumerable nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents Edrie & Thomas (Red) Gibbons , husband Richard Alhan Sandwick , brothers Edward Stowell , Bill Saleen , Jim Saleen , Merrill Saleen , Tobe Gibbons , Fred Gibbons , sisters Pat Rankin , Betty McDaniel , and Alfredia (Teed) Smith .

Visitation will be at Myers Funeral Home on, Thursday, October 10th from 4-6 pm with a prayer service at 6 pm. The Funeral Service will be at First Baptist Church on, Friday, October 11th at 10:00 am with burial to follow at Linton City Cemetery. Reception to follow at First Baptist Church.
