Thelma Rodenburg, 91, Aberdeen, SD, formerly Westfield, ND, died Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Avera St. Luke's, Aberdeen, SD. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at Hope Reformed Church, Westfield, ND with Rev. Paul Stout officiating. Burial will be in Westfield Cemetery. Thelma Lillian was born on February 2, 1923, at Westfield, ND, the daughter of Gerrit S. and Winnie (Vander Vorst) Huizenga. She was raised on a farm west of Westfield and educated at Hill School. Thelma married Ronald Rodenburg on December 27, 1946 at Hope Reformed Church. Following their marriage, they lived and farmed one mile east of Westfield. She helped her husband on the farm until they retired in 1988. They traveled throughout the Continental United States. Thelma was a member of Hope Reformed Church where she served in several offices with Womens' Ministries and was a Sunday School teacher for 20 years. She also cooked at Bakker School and was a 4-H leader. She cared for Ronald for 14 years following his stroke in 1997. She was devoted to God and family. Thelma was kindhearted, a hard worker, and gave of herself for othersThelma enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting, gardening, decorating cakes, and spending time with her grandchildren. Thelma is survived by two sons, Perry Rodenburg and Todd Rodenburg, both of Westfield, ND, two daughters and one son-in-law, Linda Dykema and Rhonda and Jeff Jarman all of Aberdeen, SD, seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, one brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Sylvia Huizenga, Linton, ND and sisters-in-law, Evelyn Huizenga, Westfield, Mavis Huizenga, Linton, Betty J. Vander Vorst, Aberdeen, and Eulyn Feist, Pelican Rapids, MN.She was preceded in death by her husband Ronald in July 2013, parents, Gerrit and Winnie Huizenga, her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Sidney and Plonieya Rodenburg, a son-in-law, Allen Dykema and two brothers, Steven G. Huizenga and Isaac Huizenga.
