Obituary

Theresa was born January 1, 1909 in Strasburg, ND, the daughter of Joseph and Anna Mary (Burgad) Bichler. She was the youngest of 15 children and the last survivor of her family. Theresa attended St. Benedict's Schools. Soon after, she left for Milwaukee, WI to begin work as a domestic with the family that owned Johnson & Johnson Cookie Company. Theresa married Frank Fettig, also of Strasburg, in Milwaukee, WI on September 23, 1933. They moved back to Strasburg shortly after their marriage, where they raised six children. A seventh child, Mary, died shortly after birth. In June of 1953, they moved back to Milwaukee. Milwaukee offered many more opportunities for their family. Frank accepted a job at Continental Can Company. The Fettig family enjoyed the opportunity of being with their Dad's three brothers and their families. In 1986, Frank and Theresa moved to Linton, ND. Frank died on January 28, 1995. Theresa was a very devoted wife to Frank and loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She looked forward to their visits and cooking their favorite German meals She was a tireless workerwonderful Momgreat cook and baker. She loved her time spent with her two sisters, Josephine Materi and Sr. Fortunata. When Frank and Theresa celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary, they received a signed Congratulatory Certificate from Pope John Paul II, which they cherished. Theresa also received a certificate from Pope Benedict XVI, congratulating her on her 100th Birthday. Theresa is survived by four sons and three daughters-in-law, Donald of Corpus Christi, TX, Patrick and Dianne of Madison, WI, Harold and Janet of Waukesha, WI and Timothy and June of Fountain Valley, CA, two daughters and one son-in-law, Fortunata "Nettie" Plumley of South Windsor, CT and Linda and Daniel Hobbick of Irvine, CA, 15 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren. Theresa was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, her husband, her siblings, one grandchild, one great-great grandchild, and a son-in-law, Robert Plumely.
