Valentine Jacob, 84, of Linton, ND, died on Friday, March 24, 2017 at the Napoleon Care Center, Napoleon, ND.Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Linton with Fr. Dave Zimmer officiating.Burial will be in the church cemetery.Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 6-9 pm with a Prayer/Vigil Service at 7:30 pm at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Linton.Valentine was born in Emmons County on December 6, 1932 to Michael Sr. and Rose (Miller) Jacob. He attended rural country school before being drafted into the US Army. He served during the Korean War and was Honorably Discharged in 1955. He returned to Emmons County and soon after met the love of his life, Angeline Horner. The couple was married on June 23, 1958. They lived on the Jacob family farm for a short time before purchasing their own farm 24 miles NE of Linton where they farmed and raised their family. Valentine loved farming and had a passion for cattle. When he retired in 1988 and moved into Linton, he still continued to help out at the farm as much as he could. Over the years he and Angeline enjoyed horse trail rides together, gardening, playing cards, riding snowmobile, and ice fishing. The highlight of his life was his grandchildren. He loved spending time and playing with them. In 2012 Valentine moved into the Napoleon Care Center. He was a member of the Linton American Legion, Knights of Columbus, and served as a trustee at St. Michael's Catholic Church. He was a current member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Valentine is survived by his wife of 58 years, Angeline; children, Shirley (Ward) Unruh, Lincoln, ND, Mary (Steve) Vetter, Wishek, ND, Gary (Ronda) Jacob, Bismarck, ND, Duane Jacob, Kintyre, ND, Carol Jacob, Linton, and Linda (Jeremy) Rohr, Wishek; 9 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; siblings, Rose (Francis) Weisbeck, Herreid, SD, Julia Kiefer, Strasburg, ND, Thomas Jacob, Linton, Frank (Helen) Jacob, Linton, and Michael (Marcella) Jacob, Linton; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 sisters, Anna Mary (Andrew) Werner, Magdalena (Tony) Weisbeck, and Theresia Jacob; brother-in-law, Joe Kiefer; and sister-in-law, Esther Jacob.
