Valeria Sehn passed away November 12, 2024, at the Edgewood Assisted Living Facility in Mandan ND, at the age of 101. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, November 18, 2024 at 11:00 AM at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Linton. Visitation will be held Sunday, November 17, 202 from 4:00-5:00 PM with a rosary/vigil service at 5:00 PM at Sannes Feist Funeral Home, Linton. Burial will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery.
Valeria was born in a sod house on the family farm about 10 miles west of Strasburg. She was the first-born child of Magnus and Mary (Mitzel) Wagner. She completed 1st and 2nd grade at St. Benedict's in Strasburg, ND, and 3rd thru 8th grade at the country school in Krasna. After completing 8th grade, she was needed to help on the family farm.
On June 2, 1948 Valeria was married to Leo Sehn at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Krasna, Emmons County ND, about 10 miles west of Strasburg. Valeria and her family lived on the farm 7 miles west of Linton. She was a hard-working farm wife and mother. Each day she would start early with milking the cows and finish after everyone else went to bed. She was also active at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, and the Hampton Homemakers group west of Linton. The farm was previously owned by Leo's parents Anselm and Monica (Ternes) Sehn. In 1986 Leo and Valeria retired from the farm and moved to Linton.
Valeria is survived by her husband of 76 years, Leo Sehn, Mandan; five sons, Marvin (Nancy) Sehn, Virginia, Kevin Sehn, Bismarck, Allen (Kathryn) Sehn, Maryland, Jeff (Donna) Sehn, Arizona and Darrel (Lillian) Sehn, Linton; son-in-law, Dave Ostlund, Wyoming; grandchildren, Nick Sehn, Caroline Petrow, Matthew Sehn, Stephanie Schneider, Michelle Reese, Brittany Pakalniskis, Jennifer Sehn, Alex Sehn, Cassie Sehn, Brandon Sehn, Cody Sehn and Tanner Sehn; 17 great grandchildren; brother, Magnus (Ann) Wagner, Linton; sisters, Arlene Kramer, Strasburg and Rosebell Volk, Wishek.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughters, Verna in infancy and Renee Ostlund; daughter-in-law, Kay Sehn; sisters, Viola (Leo) Kramer, Rita (Andy) Feist and Marcella (Jake) Camell; brothers-in-law, Ray Kramer and Albert Volk; sister-in-law, Agatha Wagner.
