Vernon Slagh, 69, of Lincoln, ND, died June 24, 2013 in a Bismarck Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:30am Friday, June 28, 2013 at Hope Reformed Church, Westfield, ND with Reverend Paul Stout, Reverend Roger Will and Reverend Doug Graham officiating. Burial will be in the Westfield Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2013 from 9am to 9pm at Myers Funeral Home, Linton. There will be a prayer service at 7:30pm. Vernon was born October 4, 1943 in Bismarck, ND, the son of Gerrit and Thelma (Rowerdink) Slagh. He attended country school and graduated from Strasburg High School in 1961. He farmed in the Westfield area before moving to Linton in 1985. Vernon married Alice Langeliers on October 4, 1986 at Hope Reformed Church, Westfield. He worked for Emmons County Soil Conservation (NRCS) until retiring in 2006. Alice and Vernon moved to Lincoln in 2009. Vernon enjoyed fishing, woodworking, cooking (especially homemade pizza) and visiting with family and friends. Most precious to his heart was the Lord and his family. Vernon was a former member of the Linton Hospital Board and he attended Evangel Assembly Church. Vernon is survived by his wife, Alice, Lincoln, ND; one son, Jeff Slagh, Atlanta, GA; two step-children, Dawn (Jason) Sauer, Port Orange, FL and Anthony (Shelley) Vander Vorst, Renton, WA; three step grandchildren, Issac, Derek and Elijah Sauer; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Joann and Milo Dyk, Strasburg, ND, Betty and Francis Kuhn, Bismarck, ND and Vicki and Bill Backhaus, Bismarck, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents.
