Obituary

Viola "Vi" Serr, 88, Napoleon, ND formerly of Linton died February 4, 2026 in a Bismarck hospital.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, February 9, 2026 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Linton with Father Mark Aune officiating.  Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM with a rosary/vigil services at 4:00 PM on Sunday at the Sannes Feist Family Funeral Home, Linton.  Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.  Interment will be held in the church cemetery.

Viola "Vi" Schwengler Serr was born in Wishek ND on June 14, 1937, the oldest of four children to Joseph & Annie (Leingang) Schwengler. She attended school through the 8th grade and then went on to work various jobs including waitressing, babysitting, and working at the Rusdons store in Linton before going to work at the Linton Hospital in the dietary department, where she worked proudly for 44 years.  Vi married Rodney Serr on June 24,1967 and they had one son, Steven.

Vi loved to cook, bake and spend time with her family, especially her granddaughter, Alison and three great grandchildren, whom she adored with all her heart. She also enjoyed coffee time at the local restaurants with her coffee ladies and a good drive around town.

Vi also had a strong, catholic faith which brought her through many hard times in her life. She was a member of St Anthony's Catholic Church & the St. Anthony's Christian Mothers.

Vi entered the Wentz Living Center in Napoleon in the fall of 2021 and resided there until her death.

She is survived by her son, Steve (Wendy) Serr of Mandan, ND; granddaughter, Alison (Logan) and their children, Emery, Hadley & Blake Wald of Napoleon; sister, Lee Nelson of Steele, ND and brother, Valentine (Sonny) Schwengler of Napoleon; her nephews, Roger Nelson and Glen Nelson; and a niece, Sherry Gaunska.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rodney & parents, Joseph & Annie; brother, Eugene; in-laws, Edward & Caroline Serr and brother-in-law, Verlyn Nelson.
