William "Bill" Shadwell, 72 formerly of Herreid, SD died August 20, 2025 in the Avera Eureka Health Care Center, Eureka, SD.  Cremation has taken place and no services will be held.

Born on August 6, 1953, in Long Beach, California, Bill spent his childhood in Grand Valley and Denver, Colorado. Over the years, he also made his home in Billings, Montana, and Brighton, Colorado, before settling in South Dakota twenty years ago, where he built a life surrounded by family and friends.

Bill was known for his love of life's simple joys. He enjoyed riding motorcycles on open roads, casting a line while fishing, working through puzzles, and savoring a cold beer or a glass of milk with Oreos. He was proud to be a member of the Sons of the American Legion, where he found both purpose and camaraderie.

Above all, Bill's heart belonged to his family. He shared an especially close bond with his brother, Bob. He was a father to daughter, Ashley and son-in-law Brandon, and a proud grandfather to Addie, Braxton, and Penny. His friends and extended family will remember him for his humor, loyalty, and the warmth he brought into their lives.

Bill's legacy lives on in the memories of those who loved him, and his presence will be deeply missed.
