Obituary

Wilma Myers, 98, Linton, died Saturday, March 15, 2014 at the Strasburg Care Center, Strasburg, ND. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church, Linton, ND. Burial will be in the Linton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Myers Funeral Home, and continue for one hour before service time at the church on Thursday. Wilma Curtis was born December 28, 1915 at Harris, Iowa, the daughter of William and Mabel (Hewitt) Curtis. As a young child, she moved with her family to Sioux Falls, SD where Wilma attended grade school and high school. On October 20, 1934 she married Woodrow (Bud) Myers and they made their home in Sioux Falls, SD. Wilma worked at the Montgomery Wards Store in Sioux Falls, while Bud served in the US Navy during WWII. They continued to live in Sioux Falls after the war until 1952 when they moved to Platte, SD. In 1958 they moved to Elk Point, SD. Wilma worked at the Younker-Martin Department Store in Sioux City, Iowa for a number of year and also for the JC Penney Store in Sioux City, Iowa for a number of years. When they retired they bought a small acreage near Schaller, Iowa where they enjoyed having a large garden. In 1975 they moved to Louisiana, Missouri to be near their daughter, Pat. In 1992 they moved to Linton, ND to be near their son, Richard. Wilma enjoyed crocheting, playing cards and listening to Christian music. She was an excellent cook and baker and enjoyed doing both. Making banana bread, candy and pies were her specialty. Wilma entered the Strasburg Care Center in July of 2011. She died there on Saturday, March 15, 2014. Grateful to have shared her life are her son and daughter-in-law: Richard and Carole Myers of Linton, ND; one daughter: Patricia Severson of Eastvale, CA; 6 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law: Joanne Myers of Milbank, SD. Wilma was preceded in death by her husband: Bud Myers; one infant daughter: Shirley Ann Myers; her parents; one brother: Arthur Curtis; three sisters: Hazel Curtis, Ethel Hanlin and Gladys Ritter all of Sioux Falls, SD.
